We were engaged in 2017 to assist with the upgrade of an existing apartment unit within a listed building, over a ground floor commercial unit. We proposed a full interior refurbishment to rectify damp issues, the provision of contemporary kitchen and toilet facilities and an upgrade of the fabric, both in relation to fire safety and energy performance. Private external open space was provided by a new first floor external balcony, formed in steel and hardwood.
The Fire Safety Certificate was granted in February 2018, with the Disability Access Certificate and Planning Permission being granted in March. The project fell under the requirements of BC(A)R, the certificate being granted on completion of the project in December 2018.
